Choose Color Accessories That Match Your Personality
People have many different types of personalities. I have chosen to use these Personality Types because they’re easy to understand and most people can visualize what the look of each would be: Classic, Sophisticated, Masculine or Boyish, Dramatic, Casual, Romantic, Youthful, or Gamin.
Be aware that we each have between 2–4 types to our mood or personality. One person’s main personality type may be a combination of dramatic and masculine—like the actress/singer Cher—another person may be classic and feminine. But we can express any personality we wish for special occasions.
My main personality types are Sophisticated, Classic, and sometimes Romantic, sometimes Dramatic. I prefer medium to medium fine textures. I don’t have a “horsey” bone in my body so I would never spend $1 on cowboy boots.
Color Accessories Can Accurately Express Your Personality
Your choice of accessories involves fabrics, leathers, textures, jewelry, and style, as well as line. It’s important when you chose your accessories that you know your color, personality, and body shape so that you can wear those accessories that will bring out the most beautiful you.
Accessories can say this is a quiet, refined lady whereas this one is vivacious and bold, and this other one is busy and efficient. This lady likes luxury while this other lady prefers a more natural environment. The first would choose a porcelain teacup, the other a sturdy mug, for her hot drink. One of my clients was naturally tailored—tall, slim, and lanky—the ideal woman for tweeds, corduroys, and interesting wools. Yet everything she chose was ruffles, lace, and gathers. She said she wanted to look “feminine.” You’re feminine because you’re a woman. How you interpret your femininity makes you an individual. Femininity isn’t frills. It’s an essence of altruism and sensitive insights.
The Romantic personality finds accurate expression in fine lace, dimity, dotted Swiss, organdy, soft silk, wool challis, chiffon, and organza.
Sporty, informal, or casual feelings speak through more rough, coarse, or sturdy fabrics such as tweed, pigskin, cowhide, suede, corduroy, homespun, ticking, denim, and sailcloth.
We express ourselves for formal and dressy occasions by wearing organza, satin lame, sequins, glitter, taffeta, velvets, brocade, chiffon, and lace. The texture of each can move from fine to rugged depending on each person’s choice, For example, a heavy sequined, embroidered or lace bodice is more textured than a bodice softly sprinkled with delicate sequins and pearls, light, delicate embroidery, or a sheer, soft lace.
As you look at fabrics, accessories, and people’s features, ask yourself, “What mood and qualities of personality do I see expressed?” What do I want to express about myself?
Knowing Your Personality and Texture Type Gives You Many Benefits
How does it help me to know this about myself? I understand what fabrics, jewelry, and leathers fit into these expressions, so I buy accordingly. This ensures that I’m happy wearing what I buy, so I prevent waste. I have confidence when I shop. I save time and spend my money well. I can recognize and take advantage of a true bargain when I see it. I get fulfillment and satisfaction from my choices.
