| Owner: | 3 fabric stores, Utah Valley, 1969-74. Marilyn acted as fabric buyer and directed a custom sewing departments where she studied and applied custom design, pattern-making and sewing under Merit Liset Kerr, a graduate of European Couture houses. |
| Owner: | Merle Norman Cosmetics, University Mall, Orem, Utah, 1969-80. Developed her original training program & manual in advanced techniques in color, makeup, face & body structure analysis, wardrobe and hairstyling. She trained cosmetic & salon employees. This store sold clothing, accessories, jewelry & giftwares which gave Mrs. Harris experience as a buyer and retailer. |
| Owner: | Avedon Hair Specialists, a 12 station hair salon, Provo, Utah, 1976-86. Apprenticed in her own salon to receive her cosmetology license. Within 3 months of receiving her license, she won the statewide Clairol Hair Color Competition with ‘the most natural red color’ the Clairol contest director said he’d seen in all the contests across the United States. She studied at the Sassoon School of Hair Design in London; the Pivot Point International in Paris; and attended the International Hair Competition in Bruxelles, Belgium. |

Because of her broad training, Marilyn understands how colors, lines, textures, and expressions of personality speak signature messages that enhance beauty. She believes every woman is beautiful. She advises women, men, United States Senators, politicians, and career professionals with their appearance and mannerisms to help advance them in their life and career goals.
A charming and enlightening woman, she is the wife of Robert E. Harris, the successful owner of Harris Hearing Aid Center, Provo, Utah for over 50 years. She’s also the mother of 8 children, grandmother to 37 grandchildren and great grandmother to one great grandson. She plays the organ in her church and is active in her community.
Marilyn Starr Harris loves to travel, read, work in her yard, host family dinners, and visit with her family and friends.
Marilyn also loves doing makeovers, presenting and writing.
